80% New cases in 6 States : Health Ministry
India reported 58.,735, COVID-19 cases and 256 new deaths as 11 PM on Thursday.
This is the highest daily spike since October 17,2020.
The cumulative case count stood at 1,18,45,748 and the death toll rose to 1,60,982.

The daily rise in infections was the highest recorded in 159 days.
India’s cumulative recoveries stand at 1,12,62,408, of which 32,817 recoveries were registered in the 24 hours.
The gap between recovered and active cases stands at 1,08,44,833.
Six States — Maharashtra, Punjab, Kerala, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat — are reporting a surge in daily cases and together account for 80.63% of the new cases reported in the 24 hours.
